Ridgeline Therapeutic Horsemanship
Therapeutic Riding
We are honored to have the privilege of facilitating therapeutic relationships between the individuals with disabilities we serve, and the horses we care for. We offer therapeutic riding through our affiliated non-profit Ridgeline Therapeutic Horsemanship. Our program is an International Professional Association of Therapeutic Riding Center and classes are taught by a Certified PATH Therapeutic Riding Instructor

Mission
Our mission is to facilitate therapeutic relationships between individuals with disabilities and horses. We believe that relationships with horses can be life changing and life-saving and that for some people they are the only thing that can make a difference. Our goal is to facilitate opportunities for these individuals to have ethical, reciprocal therapeutic relationships with horses.

Benefits of Therapeutic Riding

-
Increase confidence, self-esteem and mental/emotional resilience
-
Improved flexibility, balance and muscle strength
-
Connection to community, fulfilling activities and career opportunities

From the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship's website:

"Throughout the world, thousands of individuals with disabilities experience the rewarding benefits of horsemanship. A disability does not have to limit a person from riding horses, therapeutic driving, interactive vaulting or even competition."

"Because horseback riding rhythmically moves the rider’s body in a manner similar to a human gait, riders with physical disabilities often show improvement in flexibility, balance and muscle strength."
