Official Barn Rats
While everyone in our club is required to help, our Official Barn Rats are the team of people that are regularly responsible for the care of club horses. The Barn Rats have special practices and can earn partial to full discount sponsorship on lessons with group approval. Membership in the barn rats is by invitation or application only and approved or denied by group vote.
Mission
The Rats mission is to provide excellent care for our horses and promote mounted archery in the Eugene area by creating a strong and supportive community for all our riders and horses.
Rat Business
It's not easy being a Rat! All the Barn Rats give their time, energy and money so we can all have a wonderful time riding horses and doing mounted archery. Rats help daily chores like feeding and shifting horses, as well as running our events.
We do the dirty work!
All of our Rats are Rank or Professional riders who do partial or full sponsorship to cover the cost of their training. This makes it accessible for individuals who don't have the financial resources to cover training but do have a good work ethic and horse skills. The Barn Rats is only open to individuals who have already been a part of our program and proved that they are reliable, hardworking good horseman and good community members. If you want to be a Barn Rat, you have to participate as a Rookie and consistently arrive on time, clean up after yourself, do your horse care tasks, and keep an upbeat and positive attitude to even be considered.
