Carey Elmring

Carey has spent fifteen years loving and learning from horses. They began their journey in archery and riding at the same time, but didn't combine the two into Mounted Archery until 2017. Carey has had the privilege to learn from and train under many prestigious archers, mounted archers and equestrians including Olympians, multiple-time world champions and national and international medalists. They have received training through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship as an Equine Specialist and were mentored as an instructor under PATH legacy instructor Pat Walters. Carey trains in dressage, jumpers, mounted archery and ranch riding and loves riding out in the open and on trails. Carey spends their time teaching, riding, practicing archery, training service dogs and training horses, including gentling mustangs.

Carey's Coaching Philosophy

"My top priority is to keep my students safe physically, emotionally and socially. I focus early on teaching and following safety protocol and helping students build a solid foundation on skills. I practice positive, encouraging coaching techniques, and empower students to be confident in themselves. I work hard to create a positive atmosphere in group lessons so students can have a positive supportive sense of community. I value optimism and truly believe my students can achieve their goals. Being able to laugh off a tough ride and have fun even when you lose makes the difference between sticking through it and giving up. Helping students achieve their goals is very important to me. I love when someone has a big goal and has the motivation and drive to see it through.

Koby Dundon

Koby has been learning under Carey for two years. He is passionate about archery and horses and works every day to become a better horseman. He began his archery journey in 2019 with traditional archery that became horse bow style. Koby works with our beginner students helping them to build a solid and safe foundation. Koby practices mounted archery, dressage and rides out on the trails and open spaces. Koby is currently in an equine training internship and has retrained his horse Horchata, who is also one of our teachers in the lesson program. Koby's goal is to help everyone learn so we can take over the world with horse archery. Koby is a very fun, and safety focused instructor.
